Depth isn't only complexity, and complex games aren't necessarily deep.

Depth is in the long-term lifespan of a game. Are there interesting decisions to make? Skilled execution to be drawn upon? Dynamic enough that games have variation? All these things contribute to a game's depth.

Complexity is a bit different. I always combine learning curve and complexity into one thing. Some complexity is needed for depth (checkers isn't very deep, but chess is), but I believe the best games have lower complexity and higher depth. TF2 is a great example of elegant simplicity, as is Super Smash Bros.

Garriott made NPR. I guess he's trying to be the American Richard Branson or something.

I played the trial for like an hour and just when I realized that it was like a slow version of Halo with levels the client crashed. So much for that.
