MUD fights and general flinging!

Hey, you could always throw up a Green Dragon server, that is kind of MUD like and you only need a web browser.

If not that ... umm, surely there are some basic MUDs that someone could toss up, then you can tweek to your hearts content by making it all exclusive to Fogies and giving them all builder or even admin (god like) status if you want.

Thought it might work out nice if we went to a new Thread.

I really like the sound of Shipwreck's suggestion! I smell a winner as well!

So, with that in mind, what would be a good MUD client? I used to use Zmud free years ago, then I head to their website and they want $30 US for it? Sheesh, that is almost what it cost me to get Orange Box! Tops, I would pay the cost of one pie for it, say, $5 CDN. So, any chance there are just as functional but less costly, like ideally free, options open to us?

Is there nothing of sourceforge? Surely the geeks of the open source world have made a free MUD client?!

The one true MU* client is TinyFugue

http://tinyfugue.sourceforge.net/

;)

Back in day I had a registered copy of ZMud myself.

So.. If I bother to install this and throw myself at the tender mercies of this MUX, who will play and look like a terrible, terrible n00b with me?

Hello there :)

Bit of an update, I think I found a fun MUD to go play in if anyone is interested that is based on Shadowrun:

Name: Deckeon
Host Address: deckeon.mine.nu
Port: 2065

MUD Connector Review Link: http://www.mudconnect.com/mud-bin/simpl ... ud=Deckeon

What're you doing to me?! I haven't gotten MUDdy since I tried this thing.

So which is it: Deckeon or Firefly? There's also a Middle-earth mud that might drag me away from LotRO for a minute.

We only need focus on one?

Personally, I thought the Firefly MUX was dead in the water, perhaps attacked by Reavers, because I had signed up for it but never heard back from the MUD on if my character was approved. So, I went searching for something else somewhat interesting and that is what I stumbled across.

Do you want to play around with Archea too? I don't mind, regardless of where you sign up, we're all going to be noobs there for what ... months or more, if what I remember about MUDing hasn't changed too much - everywhere seems to have a unique system and player base, good luck on learning all the little tricks and establishing meaningful player contacts in the established base who know said tricks (and are willing to share them).

Which is the middle earth one that you liked? Lots of mediocre MUDs based on the LotR stuff.

This one was called Shadow of Isildur but I'm fine with trying Deckeon. I haven't had a Cyberpunk fix since my last Dystopia round...or the time I tried Neocron.

The Deckeon MUD Wolvie found is quite interesting. I've been running around with him getting clawed to death by ghouls. We're still learning the ropes, but we seem to be making some progress.

Are these the
"Ye find yeself in yon dungeon. Ye see a SCROLL. Behind ye SCROLL is a FLASK. Obvious exits are NORTH, SOUTH and DENNIS. What wouldst thou deau?"

"> Kick DENNIS"

Type games? Though done in a multiplayer setting?

Pretty much. Its like reading and posting on the forums, only [in Russia] the forums read and post on you!

In other words, it is the poor man's MMO. But strangely, with far more variety in themes if you take a look around. Would have been nice to get into the Firefly one but I never did hear back from that MUD because it was if the character was approved or not. Maybe it lacked GMs or something. Certainly with the star of MMOs rising over the years, the playerbase of MUDs is not what it was a decade ago.

No, but you get a +8 Charisma Ring of Kickthecheatingness for a Thy Dungeonman reference.
