Starcraft Brood Wars - anyone interested?

Postby Red » Thu Nov 24, 2005 9:25 am

I haven't really played this game in a couple of years, but I came across the cd's a few days ago. Anyone have the desire to play?

I loathe battlenet, but iirc, there are public battlenet replacement servers.

I used to LOVE to play team melee. Get 4 people for a 2v2. You start with peons from multiple races, and everyone on your team can control all the units for your team. It's more teamwork than a straight up 2v2.

"Hey, can you move your dragoons off the ramp?"

"You move em!"

Another great thing about team melee is mixing units from different races. Hydros and medics rock!

Of course I'm always up for a 1v1 too. Or we could do a 2 human v 6 bot setup. The only thing I hate is money maps.

MONEY MAPS!!!!!!

Sorry, I'm just not that hardcore of a gamer as the rest of yous! Did you want this in the RTS forum, btw?
God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of his own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players, to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.

anyone remember the map "Scream"? based on the movie? where everyone was a civilian but one guy was also a cloaked guy... forget what they're called. and they had to go around killing the civilians and then people at the end had to guess who the killer was?

THAT GAME WAS GREAT!

@Jimz0rz - That cloaked figure was called a Dark Templar! You could meld two of zem together to form a Dark Archon, and then you use that to mind control and Overlord or a Terran Shuttle full of SCVs or Drones. Then you take those and you build up your bases and be the most powerful evAr!!!

it's all comming back to me now

and yeah, i don't think you can find that map anywhere anymore. last time i tried playing sc:bw use map setting maps they were all of pokemon and other things where all you do is choose your unit and you keep getting them over and over again.

I wana play a big 4v4 or a 3v3 or even better 2v2v2v2. And not unlimited money but enough to make things interesting.

wern't they gonna make a sc 1st person shooter? i sware i saw something like it, where you were the marrine ghost character.

Stock resources is the only way to go. Otherwise the emphasis is on turtling. A 2v2v2v2 would be awesome, and there is plenty of resources on hunters for that. When the map is full, you have to conquer to expand, and win:D

Yeah, Starcraft:Ghost, but apparently it's not for the PC. I was looking forward to that, too!
