LEGEND:
WC3: Warcraft 3
MBC: Moon Base Commander
C&C: Command and Conquer
SC: StarCraft
AoE: Age of Empires
HoMM: Heroes of Might and Magic

RTS games i have knowledge of, play to a mediocre degree:
WC3
esp those maps with infinite money and such, cuz i can't ACTUALLY play this game ;), and Tower Defense

SC, and the expansion, Broodwar

HoMM II and IV

so, what strat games do you guys play?
God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of his own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players, to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.

WC3 3x4 button Grid

Postby JDawg » Wed Oct 15, 2003 9:50 am

I love WC3. Especially now that KeyCraft's 3x4 button grid is legal to use now.

I love the 3x4 button grid setup in NS, and now I can play WC3 online and offline with it and not get banned!

I'm primarily a Starcraft, Warcraft 3 kinda guy myself. I've found that for some reason, I can't seem to get into C&C or AoE. Even the Star Wars AoE seemed to lack something, but I'm still not entirely sure what.

HoMM3 was the last of that series, I think that I've played. Ah, those were the days.

heheh, same here hein, into SC and WC3, but not so much C&C and AoE, C&C.. well, not sure, just wasn't into RTS at the time, AoE, cuz it's too massively complex for me :), and the games take forever.

it's like SC is NS 1.04, and AoE is NS 2.1...

Oh! Wait!

There's one we can't omit -- we'll hurt Komodo's feelings if we do -- Homeworld! And HW2!

HW I've played, but I'm still toying with the demo of HW2...

I'm a big fan of Battle Realms, this is a neglected classic IMO.

Anyone else have it? (it came out just before WC3, and even lets you set your own hotkeys!)

The only RTSs I think I'd ever reinstall on my compy would be the homeworld series. Got bored with the others too quickly...

battle realms was pretty good, one of those underdogs that most people missed.

I guess *glances at the homeworld disc* I tried playing that. Whew got really tedious. I hate it when you can't save somewhere decent in a game. The music is good tho.

Homeworld 2 is much better than the first one, from a design standpoint. You command squads of fighters rather than individual ships, makes managing huge fleets easier.

Plus it's the closest thing you'll ever get to pretending you're Ender Wiggin!
