Neither did the Lambicil. I don't want to talk about it.

edit I forget how smashingly old this game is! Check out this great article from GFW back in '07.

I hate to spam but who knew it could be so enjoyable to investigate the mysterious death of a trapper-dwarf, follow his grieving companions to the corpse, find a live damn cougar roaming about the kill site, and then follow our master hunter as he tracks the cougar through the woods and kills it with a well placed crossbow shot, all in sparse 2d graphics with no animation.

The depth of this game FRIGHTENS me.
God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of his own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players, to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.

Have any of you tried 3Dwarf Visualizer?

It leave something to be desired and certainly doesn't render your wonderful fort in beautimous DX10 glory or anything but it is cool to have a walk around your fort, even if it looks like Castle Wolfenstein. It doesn't show your dorfs...or furniture or weapons or buildings...but it's still a cool idea.

It's been a while since I last fortressed some dwarfs. Would anyone be up for one of those thingies where you work on the Fort for a season (or a year) and then email it off to somebody else?

Sure!

I'd have to brush up on my geno...errr... fortress skills, but I'd be game to try that. I'd probably not have time until after this coming week though.

I would probably off the fortress but I would try it for fun.

Sounds grand! Let's use the latest edition of the MayDay graphic version.

I'll start a Fort this weekend and then pass it on. Just post your email addresses at some point in the next week. Also, how long should we have the Fort for before passing it on? A year or a season?

A season would be safest. Hard to get anything done, but could be easier to get into.

And yeah, I'm way too nubbish to use the ascii original stuff. I tried it and my brain asploded.

Did you download the Mayday one? I think the new version has no music!

A pickup game!!! I'm totally in!! But we should use the Orc Mod. Basically a massive hoard of super buff dudes attack you once a year or more. I think vanilla DF is too easy. But, I've done maybe 5 fortresses.

I guess it depends on what we want to do. Do we want to build an orc deathtrap or do we want to construct the mightiest work of dwafy architecture yet?

If we want a bloodbath I'd be fine with the orc mod, I might just have you start it since defense was never my strong suit.
