So far I'm liking being a bit afraid of one of those getting spawned. Nice to play a game where the hand of fate kicks your ass now and then to mix things up.

Anyone have much luck with the openserverbrowser console command?

I haven't even figured out how to enable the console yet.

And yes, I love that the Tank is tough and I also like that the Witch is always a cause for concern; too few games have cause for you to be careful (or at least games that I've played recently).

Under Options, Keyboard, Enable Developer Console

in the console type openserverbrowser

Gamesguy and I tried this it works but I'm not sure it's any better then joining a random server right now.

Just bought L4D and even if the rest of the game is just the same gameplay on different maps I think it'll be worth it. The game makes you think tactically, and I like that.

Hopefully they'll get creative with maps in the game. I can think of a few zombie movies they could borrow ideas from.

Thanks for the info. When I tried it the server list was empty so a was wondering it it was disabled or something. I was hoping to be able to have more control over the quality of the server before joining (better ping) but I agree overall jumping into the first running game with a free slot has been working decently for me.

I did get into one random server where one person (the server admin) appeared to be controlling the infected bosses per the fortold versus mode. Instead of 'Nagasaurus killed boomer' it was 'Nagasaurus killed [insert player name here]' for some of the bosses. Also hit a lame server where they were spawing 6 witches at once (in the safe room) and thought they were so hi-larious.

BTW...the game is REALLY painful with smacktards on your team.

Awesome

and even more awesome. I smell an [OldF] server in the mix...
Great job to the guys at Valve working on the L4D dedicated server, lower requirements mean cheaper dedicated servers for all of us and therefore more servers to play on!

And how is it that a zoggin' demo has dragged me away from all the other games I'm playing?! I've become a fanboy, to say the least. Somebody order me a HL2 t-shirt.

Yes....like getting shot repeatedly after a hunter jumps on you is quite annoying.

In that situation it seem like if the hunter is on someone they don't take FF damage (yes?) but the moment he gets off then the subsequent shotgun blast(s) get through. Similar observations?

Using the push-back is the best option since you move the hunter off them for a clear shot but sometimes there is too much ground to cover for that. A good argument for sticking closer together I suppose...

Is the install link broken or something, I click it an nothing happens, it's not in my games list either. Do you have to preorder to get the demo?

Just to be sure did you check down at the bottom of your games list in the 'not installed' area?
