Redesign the Kharaa?

Postby Cashmere » Mon Feb 07, 2005 6:25 pm

So I was thinking...just how many times have I been playing NS when a skulk or a fade would jump out from behind a corner and it just scares me to death. So, under much deliberation I decided to just change the alien models slightly in order to be more...lovable?

Here are two of my designs--notice how the basic structures of both remain the same but how the expressions differ from the original model.

Let's start off with the lerk--3.0 has made the lerk a terrible sporing menace. Endless marines in base stand idly in front of vents attempting to kill such a beast, but they just keep dying over and over. Giving the lerk a new lerk might just improve his people skills. Let's face it, no one likes the annoying kid in class (on the server).

He wants to bite your face off...terrifying!

How could you shoot at something so happy? He just wants to be friends!

Now let's move on to the gorge. Sure, he's already cuddly and fat...but he could still use a slight makeover as well. After cosmetic enhancement, no marine in his right mind could shoot at such a bundle of cuteness!

Simply...adorable! I just want to squeeze him...oh, so huggable!!!

Obviously when the world is full of cuteness...humans and the Kharaa will finally be able to live in peace. I mean...seriously, why can't we all just get along?

(hope you like the pictures--perhaps people want to make some of their own?)

MASTER CONTROL!!!!!!!
God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of his own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players, to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.

I suppose I would be more likely to get eaten by an onos if their insides were more pillowy and less biley.

...soft, soft onos tummy...

Commander say "Oh no! Spleen got digested."
I say "Be quiet out there, I'm trying to sleep... and could you keep the gunfire down? "
