Postby McRiot » Fri May 30, 2003 7:09 pm

NOTE: This was written for the original Half-Life 1, so this may not apply to mod when using the Valves Source Game Engine(Havock game Engine) Use with caution!-Edited Zolop

Heres a quickstart summary I may add to it later on but for now this should get you on your way.

TOOLS

Hammer
http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?go=hammer Hammer 3.4. (Required)

http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.p ... ammer_beta Hammer 3.5Beta. It's a patch so you'll need Hammer 3.4 installed first. (Recommended)

Compiling
http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=3
Nem's Batch compiler. (Highly recommended.)

http://www.zhlt.info/download-zhlt.html
ZHLT Compilers. BigD uses p13 and has no experience with newer versions. (Forums went down when amckern took over from XPCagey.)
(p13 is required at a minimum.)

Textures
Look for ns.wad and ns2.wad in your ns directory.

--//End of BigD's Edit//--

Hammer Setup

Open the Hammer Options and the most important is the Game Configurations and Build Programs (build programs however will not be needed once ZHLT is set up

Batch Compiler Setup
Here we have 8 tabs:

Batch
HL

the only ones you need to do anything with are highlighted.

CSG and Options "Setup"
Note the check marks on the right side, now open under options the "Setup" dialog

BSP/VIS
Just make sure it's checked on the right

RAD
If your using texture lighting as you should be. check the box and Browse for your lights.rad file.

Batch
Under Recommended File Functions: check the first box Copy.BSP After Compile

------------------------------------------------------

Using Valve Hammer Editor when your map is ready for a trial run goto File>>Export to .MAP now in your Batch Compiler hit the "..." aka Browse button at the bottom right find your recently exported .MAP and hit compile.

Note the gratuitous use of the forum background on the instructions :D

Lookin' good. If I get a chance over the holidays, I'll have to give this a go.
