I'm currently in Chiang Mai, in northern Thailand.
This sound so cool. I'm really interested in getting out to see the world. My youngf's have grown and flown the hive.
My apartment is 6000 baht /mo + water + electricity. Meals are an average of 100 baht. 24/7 co-working office space is 3900 baht / mo.
$192/mo. rent.
$3.21 meals.
$125 office space.
That sounds pretty easy to cover. So you work 15 hours a month?
I work all night to satisfy my North American clients.
That would be hard. I need my sleep more than pai.
I walk home alone at night constantly and have never felt unsecure. Same goes for other places in Thailand.
That's cool. Not what I would've thought, from reading stories. How are politics there? Is it a stable gov't?
The only weird experience I've had was being groped by a pack of 5 ladyboys while walking down the street in Bangkok, which was sketchy.
Holy carp! That would scare the shit out of me. You're lucky you still have kidneys and a liver!
Health care is good, if you can pay.
Translation: Plenty of kidney and liver donors.
Chiang Mai is easily the cheapest locale I have seen yet in Thailand, but it also has no beach and is fairly quiet. Great for getting work done.
Can you post some pictures? Is it like tropical rainforest?
I found a place with pie, and that costs 50 baht a slice, which is clearly the key cost of living.
Is it good pai? Are there food types that you miss while you're there?
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
