See anyone Planetside?

Postby bonHomme » Tue Apr 15, 2003 2:11 pm

Is there life outside of NS?

Wife? hrmm...

Children? Where'd I put those?

Lawn Care? It's supposed to be brown!

Other PC Team orientated FPS? Hell Yeah!

Check out this review/preview of this new persistant FPS: Planetfall

http://www.avault.com/previews/preview_temp.asp?game=planetside

Looks like it's got all the goodies of Natural selection (squad and tactical based play) With the added bonus of character building and large heavy weapons platforms that fly. And fauna. NS don't have fauna.

I'm considering signing the planetside roster, but would be even more inclined to do so if fellow fogies followed me in.

Are any of you old farts interested?

Yea planetside does look quite good but if I were to venture outside the realm of NS I would probobly go in the direction of Savage. 2 teams (man vs beast), both get a commander, pretty much NS put in large open fields instead of ships.

Yes Planetside is pay to play. A number of my tribes teammates are in the beta.

Another one I heard about you might be interested is BREED. Similar to ns.

Tribes 3 is being started so that will be some time away.

p2p isn't bad the games are generally addictive tho. I played daoc for 6 months then sold my account for $200 US. The whole match thing goes out the window tho. Battles are continuous and generally take place as the different continents come on to play. They usually have a lot of standing around waiting for stuff to happen. That's why I got frustrated. Support rocks tho cause they have money for uber servers and enough staff to track down bugs. Game development continues well after release as well. That part can't be beat. I like the match atmosphere better, it's more fun, action when I want it, and fits into my life better. Leveling absolutely sucks.

Ya I think they made it an open beta a few days ago. Steep learning curve, if Pykl is on ask me and I'll show you some tips if you like.
