Which of you is this insanely geeky?

This is what I thought I'd read that Derek Smart's Battlecruiser was going to be back-in-the-day.

The Reddit "article" has some hilarious comments:

I completely forgot about this thing until last night when I was into some heavy Trek discussion. I looked it up and found out there's now an iOS app that works (allegedly) cross-platform! Now I am dead set on making this happen. Anyone want to beam down to Atlanta? I need a comms officer.

A cross-platform play iOS app? That's exactly what this game needed. It's difficult to get friends to drag their computers all in one spot. Nice to have tablet/phone support now.

There's an android app too:

I'd join ya, but I kinda live far away on the other side of the continent :(

Edit: We actually did play it as Florpy's lan party. I can one up the pictures request with a video link, as long as no one has any objections.
The game itself at the time was kinda mediocre, but I've noticed it has received steady support over the years. I'd be interested in playing it again, for sure.

Played this several times with a full crew and used a large 60" screen for the main viewscreen. It was about a year ago now, and it was awesome, especially since none of us really knew much about what we were doing. Probably played about a dozen missions with maybe 8 people rotating through the roles. Overall we had a great time. Blew up a bunch, chased space whales around, even won a couple missions once we backed the difficulty down a bit to our level.

All in all a great time had, and I heartily recommend it for a lan party. Something to be said for all being in one room, and running it with a proper captain and crew stations. Everyone taking their turn at Captain humbled a few people, but our best adventure was when the non-gamer (but still aware of gamer culture) girlfriend of one guy took her turn at Captain. It was the best round of the night.

We finally made this happen last night (a week before 2.0 is released) and it was way fun.

Decent setup in my friends basement: about a 50-60" TV for the main viewer, iPads and laptops, plus a dual-screen which we used as a captain's map. The hard part was only having four dudes. Before we switched it to the dual-screen setup, Captain pretty much just used the iPad with Science station. Makes it easier to know what's going on.

It was still a great experience and I can't wait to do it again with a full complement.

Here's the video I mentioned earlier:

We had pretty good time considering how rough that build was. Fogies (and some ex-Fogies) know how to party, even with the most ghetto of games :)

We had a LAN party with this game back when it was first released. We found the problem being that one guy basically does all the work while everyone else just pushes a couple buttons.
